Masergy Communications Selects BroadSoft For Global Deployment Of Enhanced Telephony Services

Using BroadSoft's Award-Winning BroadWorks™ Service Delivery System for Voice, Masergy will Enhance its Offering of Customer-Controlled Intelligent Network Services

ATLANTA, GA, October 15, 2001 — BroadSoft, Inc., the leader in service delivery systems and voice applications, today announced that Masergy Communications, Inc., a global provider of customer-controlled network services for enhanced application performance, has signed a contract to use BroadSoft's BroadWorks to add voice services to its portfolio. Masergy plans to begin rolling out BroadWorks-based voice services by the end of the year. (Please see separate BroadSoft press releases announcing Percipia and bConvergent as customers.)

"By using an application platform like BroadWorks, Masergy is one of the first to offer enterprises cost-effective, enhanced telephony services," said Tom Jenkins, Vice President of TeleChoice, a leading strategic consulting firm. "Partnerships such as BroadSoft-Masergy allow a truly integrated communications product portfolio that promises enterprises carrier class reliability and scalability for voice VPNs, IP Centrex and network PBX services, as well as the opportunity to reduce their overall communications costs."

Masergy is focused on delivering a complete portfolio of converged voice, data, and video services across an intelligent MPLSbased network. Masergy currently offers both data and video services. With BroadWorks, they will complete the portfolio and offer customers IP Centrex services and voice virtual private networks (VPNs) with an extensive set of web-enabled enhanced telephony services including conferencing, call forwarding, voice mail, follow-me-anywhere calling, and auto attendant.

"IP Voice represents Masergy's next major step in delivering a fully converged network solution to enterprise customers" said Kenneth Frank, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Operations at Masergy. "BroadWorks was the perfect solution for us because it is feature-rich, scaleable, and extendable to the desktop. Masergy is focused on giving customers control of their network, and the BroadWorks platform provides the necessary user interfaces and capabilities to integrate with Masergy's customer-controlled services."

BroadWorks will interoperate with the industry leading Sonus Networks GSX9000 Open Services Switch and PSX6000 SoftSwitch.

"We are pleased that Masergy is leveraging the power of the joint Sonus-BroadSoft solution to deliver customer-controlled packet-based services to the enterprise market," said Terri Griffin, vice president of marketing programs at Sonus Networks. "This most recent deployment of our joint solution highlights the power of the interoperability attained through the BroadSoft and Sonus Platinum partnership - strategic alliances such as this one are becoming increasingly important in helping service providers deliver advanced voice solutions to market."

BroadWorks is the industry's first complete service delivery system that enables service providers to offer a rich set of web-enabled user-friendly enhanced telephony services. BroadSoft's' BroadWorks' highly scalable, flexible architecture and capabilities provide comprehensive packet-based telephony applications including small-medium sized enterprise (SME) Centrex services, enterprise networking and private branch exchange (PBX) replacement. It cuts across circuit and packet technologies, allowing service providers to roll out packet-based telephony services with incremental investment to their network infrastructure. In addition to the comprehensive set of services, BroadWorks also offers web-based enterprise and service providers administration features. It also integrates with key business tools such as Microsoft Outlook. Capabilities and services can be customized and managed via BroadWorks' web-based portal, CommPilot™ , which provides an alternative user interface for enhanced services, replacing the flash-hook and star codes of a standard phone.

"BroadWorks is helping Masergy fulfill its vision of delivering one of the industry's most comprehensive suite of customer-controlled converged services," said Scott Wharton, vice president of marketing, BroadSoft. "Moreover, our relationship with Masergy highlights the importance of the interoperability achieved through our Platinum Partner status in Sonus' Open Services Partner Alliance. Utilizing a comprehensive voice solution, Masergy is truly ahead of the industry in delivering enhanced packet-based voice VPN solutions."

BroadSoft will be showing a live demonstration of BroadWorks in their booth (#1104/1106) at the Fall 2001 Voice on the Net (VON) show in the Georgia International Convention Center, October 15-18th, Atlanta, GA.
