MGCF / SGW
In IMS networks, the Media Gateway Control Function (MGCF) is the central node for managing trunking gateway resources, and the Signaling Gateway (SGW) provides signaling interworking between the SIP/IMS packet network and the PSTN/PLMN. Deployed worldwide, GENBAND's C3 Signaling Controller is a robust MGCF that uses standards-based SIP and H.248 protocols to control media gateway voice routing between IP and PSTN networks, and the C3 is a versatile SGW that connects SIP/IMS networks to SS7/C7 signaling networks. By combining MGCF/SGW features, the C3 enables operators to cost-effectively migrate to IMS while continuing to utilize legacy signaling and switching assets, ensuring minimal incremental investments and assurance of service continuity.
